The Brumbies flew the blocks with a 31-23 win over the Rebels in Round 1 of Super Rugby Australia, and they maintained their position at the top throughout the remainder of the competition – recording a total of six wins and just two losses.
It did take the Reds a little longer to find their stride, but they have been similarly strong throughout the campaign in recording five wins, two losses and a draw.
There is no doubt at all that the two best sides remain alive, and we will be treated to a terrific contest on Saturday night.
Interestingly, each of the last ten Super Rugby matches between these two sides have resulted in the home side winning, and that is certainly echoed in the Brumbies’ $1.62 favouritism in betting.
The Reds do take the stronger form into the fixture, however, having comfortably accounted for the Brumbies in Brisbane two weeks ago, before comfortably accounting for the Rebels last weekend.
With a genuine case to be built for both sides, I’m going to stick with the Reds at the better price.
Brad Thorn has instilled plenty of confidence in his side, and the plethora of young talent that he has at his disposal are really starting to find their groove.
I’m going to back the Reds outright, but I am also going to take Tate McDermott in both first and anytime try scorer betting.
McDermott has scored nine tries in Super Rugby Australia, including two against the Brumbies.
