Playing for spots in the top four and top eight respectively, Melbourne and Carlton will go searching for a crucial victory at the MCG on Saturday night.
There is the potential that Carlton will have already qualified for September if results go its way earlier in Round 22.
Nevertheless, the Blues find themselves in this position due to a poor run of form which has seen them lose six of their last 10 matches, including a 114-81 defeat against Brisbane at the Gabba last weekend.
Carlton will have to cover for the absence of Patrick Cripps, who has been suspended for two matches due to his hit on Callum Ah Chee.
The Demons also hold a 4-6 record from their last 10 matches after most recently falling 96-89 to Collingwood at the MCG.
Melbourne was more successful when these clubs last met, claiming a 94-68 victory in Round 9, 2021 behind Clayton Oliver’s 28-disposal, 10-tackle, one-goal performance.
