Joey Wright must have been very good this year because the Adelaide 36ers absolutely cleaned up over the Christmas break. They opened Round 11 with a thrilling Boxing Day win over Melbourne United under the open roof and returned home to defeat the New Zealand Breakers by 11 points to finish 2018 in equal 4th with the Brisbane Bullets.
The Wolf takes a look at all the matches from Round 12 of the NBL.

Controlling the boards is the key to 36ers success
There is plenty to like about the 36ers at the moment who have won their last 4 consecutive games. Daniel Johnson is one of the most versatile big men in the NBL and Adelaide’s highest scorer whilst Jacob Wiley is bringing an energy to the side that is taking them to the next level. The Wolf watched both of the 36ers games over the Christmas break and was particularly impressed by Majok Deng who had 12 points off the bench against Melbourne United and 11 points off the bench against the Breakers.
The key for the 36ers in this game is to continue their domination of the boards. Control the rebounds, control the game and they certainly did that the last time they faced the Breakers. The rebound count was 54-28 in favour of Adelaide. The Wolf is confident the 36ers will find their 5th consecutive win in this game.

Can United bounce back from Boxing Day defeat?
Melbourne United have had plenty of time to digest their 101-103 loss to the Adelaide 36ers. Casper Ware had a chance to win that game on Boxing Day but chose his shot poorly in a game that the 36ers dominated in the fourth quarter (28-19) and deserved to win. It was a messy performance for United who were made to play around Josh Boone when he got into foul trouble early. He was on the court for just 15 minutes.
The Bullets should go into this game with a huge amount of confidence after defeating United twice in early December. The Wolf thinks that Brisbane are good value to get the win but they need to start with more energy, finishing the first quarter in both of their previous wins behind by 7 and 10 points. They also need to continue to control the boards which they won in both games a few weeks ago.
The Wolf is confident if the Bullets can get a jump in the first quarter and keep control of the boards, they will win their third consecutive game over Melbourne United.
