CrownBet’s Punter of the Week had $400 @ $567.79 on a 9-leg multi for a collect of $227,116! The first 8 legs played over 3 days with the final 9th leg occurring 2 months later. A long time to be tempted by Cash Out!
Leg 1 – M Cecchinato to defeat A de Greef H2H $1.42
Our Punter picked the Verrazzano Open to kick things off. Marco Cecchinato looked comfortable throughout his quarter-final match with the seeded German, Arthur de Greef to secure a 6-3 / 6-3 win.
Leg 2 – A Bedene to defeat M Bourge H2H $1.41
The very next match at Verrazzano saw the 2nd leg of our multi in play. Aljaz Bedene walked out to face Mathias Bourge. A 7-6 tiebreaker in the 2nd set made things interesting but after a brief struggle Bedene claimed the match. 2/2
Leg 3 – Kolkata Knight Riders Most Match Sixes $2.62
Death, taxes and Chris Lynn smashing 6s. Clearly a fan of Lynn, our Punter jumped onto the Kolkata Knight Riders for Most Match Sixes in a T20 clash with the Gujarat Lions. The Lions batted first and finished with a solid 183 including six 6s. Lynn stomped into the middle of the ground and proceeded to demolish the Lions’ bowling attack with a monster eight 6s! 3/3 in the bag – never worried!
Leg 4 – Shelby Rogers to win a set against N Osaka $1.43
After some excitement at the cricket it was back to tennis to continue loading the multi. Shelby Rogers to win a set in her home-town tournament, the Volvo Car Open in Charleston seemed like a sure thing. Fighting a strained abdominal muscle she managed to push through to claim the first set 7-6. Lucky she pinched one early as her injury proved too much, losing the next two sets!
Leg 5 – S Galdos / C Zampieri to defeat R Silva / A Sa H2H $2.25
All the way to Panama next for a doubles clash. Galdos and Zampieri proved too strong for the favourites, Silva and Sa. Our Punter would’ve felt a bit nervy with the match playing out over the three sets.
Leg 6 – Kings XI Punjab to defeat Rising Pune Supergiant H2H $2.10
Back to the cricket for a clash involving Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell. Smith’s Supergiants were expected to perform well but only managed a passable 163. The Kings XI never looked troubled and Maxwell helped them sail over the line with an over to spare.
Leg 7 – Royal Challengers Bangalore to defeat Delhi Daredevils H2H $1.59
With 6 legs under their belt our Punter would’ve been tearing their hair our watching the Challengers batting first. They only managed 157 and things were looking grim. However, they produced a bowling masterclass to knock over the Daredevils for 142. A lucky escape for our Punter!
Leg 8 – U Ignatik / J Kovalik to defeat W Koolhof / M Middelkoop H2H $3.10
Clearly a sucker for punishment, our Punter had the second longest odds at Leg 8. Watching Ignatik and Kovalik drop their first set in France had our multi in dire straits. They must’ve heard our Punter’s pleas from the other side of the world and rallied to win the next two sets. Phew! 8/8
Leg 9 – Rafael Nadal to win the French Open $3.25
With 8 legs complete inside 3 days our Punter faced a 2 month wait for the final leg – Nadal to win the French Open. With the Cash Out value hovering around $175k our Punter faced a huge decision. Somehow they managed to hold firm and let it ride. With Nadal as the anchor can you blame them? Safe as houses. The French Open went to script and our Punter walks away with $227,116!
