Ash Barty heads odds to beat Marketa Vondrousova in French Open Final 2019

Ash Barty has managed to reach her first grand slam singles final this evening and is $1.50 with TAB to win tomorrow night’s French Open women’s singles final against Marketa Vondrousova ($2.65).

The No.8 seed looked set to secure an easy passage to the final after leading 5-0 in the first set against American teenager Amanda Anisimova.

Barty was $1.03 to win the semi-final when leading 5-0 before eventually squandering two set points to lose the opening set in a tiebreak.

Barty then trailed 0-3 in the second set and was as much as $9 to defeat Anisimova before reeling off six straight games to send the semi-final into a third and deciding set.

On her sixth match point, Barty prevailed 6-7 6-3 6-3 over Anisimova and will face Czech teenager Vondrousova, who defeated Britain’s Johanna Konta 7-5 7-6.

“Surprisingly, the two biggest bets on Barty to win the French Open title are $1,000 wagers at $8 with one bet placed on June 2 and the other on June 3,” TAB’s Trent Langskaill said.

Barty was $18 before the French Open commenced to win the women’s singles title while Vondrousova was a $26 chance.

One punter will be unpatriotically cheering for Vondrousova tomorrow evening after placing a $150 bet at $41 on her in mid-April for a potential collect of $6,150.
