Aston Villa couldn’t be much happier with their start to the season. After their Week 1 game was postponed, the unfancied side upset Sheffield 1-0 then pumped Fulham 3-0 on the road. A 1-0 EFL Cup loss to Stoke City was a minor buzzkill.
Liverpool are humming early in their title defence. After a rocky start in a 4-3 win over promoted Leeds, the champs have put away Chelsea (2-0) and Arsenal (3-1) comfortably. Sadio Mane scored three goals across the latter two games. Liverpool were eliminated by Arsenal in the EFL Cup midweek, however.
Last season Liverpool won 2-1 at Villa Park and 2-0 at Anfield in the Premier League – either side of Villa’s 5-0 stampede in the EFL Cup.
Value is a little hard to come by with Liverpool understandable $1.33 favourites, but it shapes as a chance for the heavyweights to flex their attacking muscle.
