Blue Diamond Stakes Free Tips, Bets and Field Preview – 2020

The 2020 Blue Diamond Stakes will headline a big day of racing at Caulfield on Saturday and 16 talented juveniles will contest the Group 1 event.

Hanseatic has opened as a dominant favourite in our Blue Diamond Stakes betting market and has already been very popular with punters.

Will Hanseatic deliver or will we see a Blue Diamond Stakes upset?

We have analysed the entire field and our complete 2020 Blue Diamond Stakes tips can be found below!

Ideas Man

Ideas Man made his racing debut with a win in the Inglis Banner at The Valley on Ladbrokes Cox Plate Day and he was unable to replicate that performance when he finished fifth in the Chairman’s Stakes. The form coming out of both those races has been poor and he is one of the outsiders in Blue Diamond Stakes betting for a reason.

Hanseatic

Hanseatic is clearly the horse to beat in the Blue Diamond Stakes. He stamped himself as a colt to follow with his debut win in the Merson Cooper Stakes and his victories in both the Blue Diamond Stakes Preview and Prelude have been excellent. The way that he savaged the line in both those wins suggests that he will relish the step-up to 1200 metres and he is already a very professional galloper. Barrier one is something of a concern and he will need luck in running at some stage, but he showed last start that he does have some tactical speed and he does have a very sharp turn-of-foot.

Rathlin

Rathlin hasn’t done much wrong during his racing career to date and already has plenty of race starts under his belt. He wasn’t beaten far in the Magic Millions Clockwise Classic and he followed that up with a dominant win in the Phelan Ready in Brisbane. The Fastnet Rock colt got too far back in the run in the Magic Millions Classic before he worked home nicely behind Hanseatic in the Blue Diamond Prelude. I think that he will run better than his current odds of $15 suggest.

Tanker

Tanker won the Debutant Stakes during the Spring Racing Carnival, but he has been able to replicate that effort during his Autumn campaign. The Pride Of Dubai colt was never able to get into the race in the Blue Diamond Preview and he ran on after the contest was over in the Blue Diamond Prelude. He would need to go to another level to be a genuine winning chance.

Tagaloa

Tagaloa returned to the races with a credible performance in the Blue Diamond Prelude and he still has the scope to improve on that effort. Whether he has the upside to turn-the-tables on the likes of Hanseatic is a genuine question mark, but he does map to get a lovely run in transit from barrier four and will have every possible chance in the run.

Rulership

Team Snowden have an excellent record in the Blue Diamond Stakes and Rulership is their only runner in this year’s race. Rulership led from start to finish to win on debut at Royal Randwick and he gave Hanseatic a genuine scare in the Blue Diamond Prelude. The step-up to 1200 metres might not be ideal for him, but he does have early speed and it would not surprise to see him kick clear at the top of the straight. If Hanseatic is blocked for a run, he could prove tough to run down.

Glenfiddich

Glenfiddich comes out of the Blue Diamond Preview and the Blue Diamond Prelude. He was not match for Hanseatic in either of those races and it is tough to see him turning-the-tables on his rival over 1200 metres.

Away Game

Away Game is the value selection in Blue Diamond Stakes betting. She did plenty wrong when she made her racing debut in the Merson Cooper Stakes and she has been flawless since then. The Snitzel filly was too classy for her rivals in the Calaway Gal in Brisbane and she could hardly have been more impressive in the Magic Millions Classic. She proved that win was no fluke when she led from start to finish to win the Widden Stakes and she might still have the scope to improve. The $11 currently available is well and truly over the odds.

A Beautiful Night

There is a genuine question mark over the ability of A Beautiful Night to run out a strong 1200 metres in the Blue Diamond Stakes. She led from start to finish to win the Blue Diamond Preview, but she failed to finish the race off over 1100 metres in the Blue Diamond Prelude. It is tough to back her in the Blue Diamond Stakes off that effort.

Aryaaf

Aryaaf was excellent on debut in the Ottawa Stakes on Melbourne Cup Day and she was not disgraced when she finished second behind Mildred in the Chairman’s Stakes. There is a question mark over the strength of the form coming out of that race and she is another that might be a query over 1200 metres.

Letzbeglam

Letzbeglam might be the x-factor in the Blue Diamond Stakes field. She scored a comfortable win on debut at Werribee and she handled the big step-up in class with aplomb to score a fairly dominant victory in the Blue Diamond Fillies Prelude. There is definitely still plenty of upside left in the Snitzel filly and she should get a lovely run in transit from barrier three. She is right in this contest.

Muntaseera

Muntaseera chased home Letzbeglam in the Blue Diamond Fillies Prelude and it is fair to say that she didn’t have a great deal of luck in running, after being blocked for a run at the 350 metre mark. Barrier 13 is not ideal and she does look as though she will get a long way back in the run. She would need to be very good to finish over the top of a field of this quality and I am happy to take her on at the current price.

Personal

Personal gets a chance in the Blue Diamond Stakes after recording a maiden race win at Flemington last start. She does have upside, but this is a big step-up in quality and she would need to go to another level to be a genuine winning chance.

Riverina Storm

Riverina Storm found the line fairly to finish fourth in the Blue Diamond Prelude and it looks as though the step-up to 1200 metres will suit. I’m not sure that she has the upside to win a race of this quality and the $41 currently available does look like the right price.

Fayerra

Fayerra has finished outside the placings in both her race starts and the wide barrier draw doesn’t make things any easier. $101 might be under the odds.

Difficult

Difficult is the extreme outsider in Blue Diamond Stakes betting for a reason.

Best Bet

Hanseatic at $2.50
