Bookmaker pays out $11million to Trump backers

Online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au has paid out $11 million to 25,000 punters who backed Donald Trump to win the US Election.

One punter won $380,000 after staking $100,000 on Trump at $3.80 in late October, while another will be smiling after winning $10,100 from a $100 bet on Trump at odds of $101 in 2014.

The punter who staked $1 on Trump is 2013 at odds of $151 clearly had a crystal ball, but will be wishing they’d had a little bit more on the win than the solitary gold coin.

As the fallout from Trump’s remarkable victory continues, Sportsbet has released its election fallout markets.

Comedian Amy Schumer said she would move to Canada if Trump won and Sportsbet says ‘Amy it’s time’ pricing her at $4.00 to be the first to exit, while Hillary Clinton is a short $1.30 to be the first person imprisoned by Trump.

The USA is priced at $1.87 to leave NATO, Hillary Clinton is $51 to become Bernie Sanders’ campaign manager for the 2020 election, and repealing Obamacare is the $1.50 favourite to be Trump’s first act as President.

Vladimir Putin is priced at $3.00 to send a public message of congratulations to Trump, with $51 on offer if Russia has a national day of celebration as a result of Trump’s election.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is priced at $4.00 to be the first world leader to visit Trump, with our own PM Malcolm Turnbull priced at $6.00.

Looking forward to 2020 and Trump is $3.00 to be defeated at the next election and $9.00 to not get the nomination. Clinton is $21 to run again in 2020 and an unlikely $51 to win it.

“What a day it has been and what a four years we have ahead of us,” said sportsbet.com.au’s Ben Bulmer.

“The punters beat us, with more than 25,000 Aussies successfully predicting the outcome of the electiob despite the weight of public opinion suggesting Trump was no chance. Well played.”
