Boxing Day Races Tips and Bets – Caulfield and Randwick 2018

We take a look at Wednesday’s Boxing Day Races at Caulfield and Randwick and give our tips, bets and value bets for the two meetings. View our Boxing Day Races tips below.

Native Soldier (Caulfield Race 7, No. 3; 5:10pm AEDT)

Native Soldier won the Group 3 McNeil Stakes over this course and distance earlier this campaign and he then followed this up with a dominant win the Guineas Prelude. He led and won at both outings and against a small field comprised of only nine he rates to do the exact same again. First up this prep he finished a competitive fourth behind Whispering Brook at Flemington in a high rating straight race at Flemington. He’ll be much better around a bend and The Wolf is confident that he will be able to get the job done on Wednesday at Caulfield.
Recommended Price: $2.90

Circuit Bets

Transmitter (Randwick Race 4, No. 10; 2:55pm AEDT)

Transmitter has progressed well in her last two starts, winning against maiden company before then winning impressively at Gosford in a BM64. She can make the step up to BM70 racing, especially against a field such as this who don’t look to be overly strong. She gets the in-form James McDonald on which suits and from the draw she is more than likely going to find herself racing on the speed early.
Recommended Price: $4.60

Wokurna (Randwick Race 6, No. 6; 4:10pm AEDT)

Wokurna is a lightly raced gelding by Snitzel who has won two from three across his very short career and The Wolf is confident that he has enough ability to notch up his third win on Wednesday at Randwick. Trained by Gerald Ryan, Wokurna has displayed a sharp turn of foot in both of his wins and being so lightly raced he is one who could improve sharply. James McDonald will be looking to set the pace in the lead throughout, before kicking clear in the straight to win.
Recommended Price: $4

Juventus (Randwick Race 8, No. 7; 5:30pm AEDT)

Juventus notched up back-to-back wins at his only two starts last prep and although his trial performances have been less than encouraging, he did the same thing prior to his first up run last prep, which did end up resulting in a win. Juventus has the ability to progress to BM70 racing from Bm64 and he’ll be aided by a welcome drop in distance to 1200m from 1300m. James McDonald can cap off what could be a very big day for the young rider at Randwick., as he appears to have a number of legitimate winning chances, including Juventus.
Recommended Price: $7

Bolter

The Passage (Caulfield Race 8, No. 14; 5:45pm AEDT)

The Passage faded to finish second last, last start, but he should be forgiven for that run as his record clearly suggests that he wasn’t suited to the tight turning track that is, Moonee Valley. His last run over this course and distance in BM78 grade saw him finish a narrow second to Mantastic, which is a strong form reference for a race such as this, and subsequently he is over the odds.
Recommended Price: $21/$5
