British Open Golf Free Tips, Odds and Bets – 2019

The 2019 British Open gets underway at Royal Portrush Golf Club in Northern Ireland on Thursday afternoon and we are set for another fascinating tournament from a betting perspective.

There has been plenty of work done to the course in the past 18 months to ensure that it is difficult enough to host a tournament of this quality and there are a number of unique holes that are set to challenge even the very best players in the world.

We have analysed the entire field and our 2019 British Open tips can be found below.

2019 British Open Betting

Rory McIlroy broke the course record at Royal Portrush as a teenager and it is somewhat fitting that he is currently on top of our British Open betting market at $9.

Brooks Koepka has won four of the past nine majors and finished runner-up twice, so it is no surprise that he is on the second line of betting at $11.

There is a big gap to Dustin Johnson, Jon Rahn and Tiger Woods, who are all at $21, Justin Rose at $21 and the pick of the Aussies Adam Scott at $26.

2019 British Open Tips

Henrik Stenson ($31)

This course looks nothing short of ideal for Henrik Stenson and the $31 that is currently available is well and truly over the odds.

The areas around the greens on a number of holes at Royal Portrush are very difficult and players with a strong approach game are set to thrive.

No player on the PGA Tour has gained more strokes in their approach to the green in 2019 than Stenson and his record at the British Open is nothing short of outstanding – he won the tournament in 2016 and finished in the top three in 2008, 2010 and 2013.

He returned to a semblance of his best at the Majors with a ninth place finish at the US Open and he should be in the mix in this tournament.

Patrick Cantley ($34)

Patrick Cantley has developed into one of the best players on the PGA Tour and I am confident that a maiden major win is just around the corner.

There is no better scrambler on the PGA Tour than Cantley and that is set to be a key skillset on this course.

He finished in the top ten at both The Masters and the PGA Championship earlier this year and he is ideally placed to make a serious run at the 2019 British Open.

Webb Simpson ($81)

He may not have won a tournament this year, but Webb Simpson is a much better chance than his current odds suggest.

Simpson showed his true talent at the Canadian Open, where he finished second, and it was only a poor opening round that cost him a top ten finish at the US Open.

Like Cantley, his scrambling abilities will be crucial in this tournament and he has a genuine chance of claiming his first Major since his victory in the 2012 US Open.

Cameron Smith ($201)

It has not been the best year to date for Cameron Smith, but I remain convinced that he does have the talent to win a Major.

There is no denying that his recent form has been putrid, but he did show some signs of life at the Rocket Mortgage Classic and his putting game can get hot when it matters.

You will see worse $201 chances than Smith in the British Open.
