I’m going to continue riding the wave of Goorj-mentum as Brian Goorjian’s team formerly known as Illawarra continue their tour of the Sunshine State, returning to the site that was once a Bunnings Warehouse to take on the Cairns Taipans.
The Hawks have started season 2021 3-0, winning their third game in six days with a terrific 90-82 win over the Brisbane Bullets last Saturday – coming back from 10 down in the first quarter.
The team formerly known as Illawarra (although Brian Goorjian has publicly stated the club should re-embrace the ‘Gong) travels to Cairns, the scene of their biggest win so far this season for what will be their fourth game on the road after leaving their home on Boxing Day.
Cairns is coming off a respectable 85-87 loss to Melbourne United on Monday night.
Scott Machado gave it his all to get the Snakes home, in what would have been a stunning comeback but it was too little, too late.
The Taipans will gain some confidence out of the loss.
The Hawks made a statement when they beat the Snakes last time out 92-76 back on January 18th.
Should they get up, it will be the first time the Hawks have started a season 4-0.
I’m declaring The Hawks to be my boys this season and nothing will stop the Goorj-mentum this Thursday night as they SNAG another win at the old Bunnings.
