Cameron Smith and Marc Leishman head odds for Australian PGA Championship 2018

Cameron Smith is the most popular player with TAB customers heading into this week’s Australian PGA Championship.

The 25-year-old, who won the tournament last year, is the equal $6 favourite along with Marc Leishman and is the most popular player in terms of the early money. In fact, the pair are the only two players in single figures with Harold Varner III heading the others at $10.

Smith is responsible for 15 percent of the early money while Leishman is next best backed in front of Varner III, Lucas Herbert ($15) and Jason Scrivener ($15). At $41, Jake McLeod has had some specking at the big price.

McLeod finished third in the Australian Open a fortnight ago behind Mexico’s Abraham Ancer and fellow local, Dimitrios Papadatos, with the latter rated a $31 chance for this week’s event.

“Cameron Smith is the most popular player heading into the tournament which is really no surprise considering he is the defending champion,” TAB’s Andrew Georgiou.

“Marc Leishman has had his fair share of early support too but Jack McLeod and Dimitrios Papadatos are the best tried outside the favourites.

“The pair are at double figure odds and definitely caught the eye with their efforts in the Australian Open recently.”
