It’s the clash of traditional rivals this Saturday night as Carlton hosts Collingwood at Princes Park.
While the opening game of AFLW season one between the two sides was a memorable night and a saw a lock-out crowd at the ground, this match will be not even close to that.
Carlton had every chance to get the win against Geelong last week but kicked themselves out of the game in what was a frustrating five point loss to the Blues.
The football gods were clearly against Tayla Harris as she hit the post three times and captain Brianna Davey hasn’t quite worked out where she belongs on the ground, starting out in defence before playing in the centre for the second-half of last week’s match.
The Blues backline of Kerryn Harrington and Gab Pound have been reliable for Carlton bit it’s the inaccuracy of the forwards that would have helped the Blues cement a win and a top-two conference B spot.
Collingwood is yet to win a game in season 2019 and are the only winless team in the AFLW.
Despite a fast finish, it was too little, too late for the Magpies as they went down to GWS by nine points in Morwell last week.
GWS managed to get 10 of the first 11 inside 50s of the game and put the outcome beyond doubt early in the match.
The Magpies failed to score in the first quarter and spent the entire game playing catch-up Football.
Collingwood’s inability to score early in matches has been a major weakness and is why they are at the bottom of both conference B and the AFLW in general.
