It’s been a scratchy 1-1-1 start to the season for Frank Lampard’s Chelsea. After a 3-1 win over Brighton, Chelsea went down 2-0 to Liverpool and were extremely lucky to get a point from their trip to West Brom. The Blues trailed 3-0 after 27 minutes but rallied to force a 3-all draw, with Tammy Abraham scoring the 93rd-minute equaliser. They also lost an EFL Cup tie to Tottenham on penalties midweek.
Crystal Palace’s strong start hit its first speedbump with a 2-1 loss to Everton at home in Week 3 – a comedown from back-to-back wins over Southampton (1-0) and Man United (3-1).
Chelsea are on a five-match winning streak against Palace, including a 3-2 result soon after the post-COVID restart last season. But I’ll have a piece on the value in in-form Palace as a massive outsider in this one.
