This week’s early window is headlined by a key divisional game between the 5-1 Ravens and the 4-2 Bengals in the AFC North.
Baltimore’s opening week loss to the Raiders feels like a distant memory now, especially after the way the Ravens manhandled a playoff calibre Chargers team last week by a score of 34-6.
Likewise, the Bengals continue to prove that they are more contender than pretender with a convincing 34-11 win over the hapless Lions last week.
Baltimore’s injury woes continue to grow with Sammy Watkins and Latavius Murray both listed as questionable, but their potential absence certainly isn’t enough to sway this one in favour of Cincinnati on the road.
The rowdy atmosphere in Baltimore is no doubt going to play a part, but I also think the Bengals might struggle here given their lack of a running game.
Joe Mixon is certainly capable of picking up yards, but that really hasn’t happened this year with the Bengals ranking 20th in average rush yards this season.
None of that bodes well against a Ravens team that has been among the best in the league when it comes to defending the pass, or one that features a dual-threat quarterback like Lamar Jackson.
The Ravens signal-caller rushed for nearly 100 yards on Cincinnati late last year, and if history repeats itself, this might be a long day for the Bengals.
