Both sides are on the up, but only one can advance to a Preliminary Final on Saturday night back at the ‘G.
As has been the trend all season, the Pies found themselves in another tight game against the Cats last week – this time on the losing end thanks to last-minute defensive lapse that resulted in a goal to Max Holmes.
Almost in reverse, the Dockers fought back from a five-goal deficit to stun the Bulldogs by 13 points – largely thanks to monster games from Caleb Serong and Andrew Brayshaw through the midfield.
Collingwood ran out 36-point winners over Fremantle when they met back in Round 10, but there were plenty of positives for the Dockers as whole.
Brayshaw, David Mundy, and Will Brodie all had a good chunk of the footy, while the Dockers also started strong in the first quarter before fading down the stretch.
Scoring points on a consistent basis has been tough for Fremantle though, which does pose problems against a potent Pies forward line that made the Cats pay early last week.
Likewise, Collingwood would probably like some consistency from either Jordan deGoey, Jamie Elliott, or Brodie Mihocek, but the Pies have shown no problems finding targets inside 50 in recent weeks.
This game is another tough one to get a feel for, especially with Fremantle suffering stage fright last week, and the Pies bursting out of the gates, only to fade late.
On paper, however, the consistent stat for both clubs have been tackling.
The Dockers and the Pies both rank top five in the category, and you can bank on this being another high-pressure, low-scoring game of footy.
That said, the Dockers have been the best inter-state team all year, while they’ve also covered in each of their last seven games as the away underdog.
Given Collingwood’s reputation of low-scoring games this, the Dockers to cover and the Under looks a nice bit of value.
