Coolmore Classic Free Tips, Bets and Field Preview – 2020

The Coolmore Classic is generally one of the more open Group 1 contests each autumn and that certainly looks like being the case again at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday.

I’m thrilled to say that I’m seeking a hat-trick in this race after backing Daysee Doom and Dixie Blossoms the last couple of years, but Ronnie Quinton hasn’t accepted with anything in 2020 and I’m really hoping that isn’t the difference.

Coolmore Classic – Winner

No. 7 Sylvia’s Mother – Bet Now: $4.40

Sylvia’s Mother has recorded two wins in as many starts since resuming and will only be better third-up, out to 1500m and probably also at the Sydney way of going. The Snitzel mare doesn’t know how to run a bad race, recording seven wins and two minors from only eleven career starts and her wins in both the Group 3 Bellmaine and Group 3 Frances Tressady in Melbourne this preparation suggested that she has returned to the track in career-best form. She’s drawn to receive a lovely run and has been charged with carrying a very manageable 55kgs.

Coolmore Classic – 2nd

No. 2 Sweet Deal – Bet Now: $4.60

Sweet Deal has returned to the races in typically pleasing form this time and the Coolmore Classic does shape as the ideal race for her, if the big weight doesn’t ultimately cause her undoing. The Casino Prince mare has shown ability throughout her career and is already a multiple stakes winner, but gave a good field windburn in the Group 3 Triscay first-up this time before running second to Dawn Dawn in the Group 2 Guy Walter last time out. The small rise in trip should suit at this point of her preparation and I can’t find a real reason why she won’t be in the finish again.

Coolmore Classic – 3rd

No. 4 El Dorado Dreaming – Bet Now: $21.00

Group 1 winner El Dorado Dreaming hasn’t quite been able to fight back into the winner’s stall since flying at 100s in the Inglis Sires’ a couple of years ago, but she continues to show flashes of brilliance and I would not at all be surprised to see her jag the Coolmore Classic. The Ilovethiscity mare ran a good second to Dixie Blossoms in this race last year and while she did finish at the tail of the field in the Group 3 Liverpool City Cup a fortnight ago, she’ll enjoy big improvement for that effort, the rise in trip and a return to fillies and mares’ company.

Coolmore Classic – 4th

No. 3 Dawn Dawn – Bet Now: $15.00

Dawn Dawn looks to have gone to another level in 2020 and she’ll take a power of beating in the Coolmore Classic. The Team Hawkes-trained mare tuned up with a couple of nice efforts to finish close to the winner in BM88 company and the Triscay, before returning a smart performance to beat plenty of these rivals in the Guy Walter last time out. She looks to be peaking in condition at perfect timing form this race and could prove the real value in Coolmore Classic betting at a double-figure price (at publish).
