The Cowboys have enjoyed a few extra days of rest and reflection following their Week 1 loss to the Bucs in Tampa Bay.
There’s no shame in losing on a walk-off field goal to the Super Bowl champs, and it’s fair to say Dak Prescott and the rest of the Cowboys offence silenced a few critics following a less than ideal preseason.
The Chargers, on the other hand, kicked things off with a win over Washington on the road.
Justin Herbert threw for over 300 yards and a touchdown, while the defence also dominated to win the bulk share of possession.
Los Angeles is no doubt a playoff threat this year, but I don’t think there’s as much separating these two sides as the current market suggests.
Keep in mind, the Chargers actually trailed Washington heading into the fourth quarter, while the Cowboys looked like the top five offence they were before Prescott got hurt last year.
The absence of Michael Gallup and a couple of tackles on the offensive line is a slight concern, but if the Cowboys can expose the Chargers on the ground like Washington did, I think they’ll go close to winning this.
