Daniel Ricciardo’s odds shorten to win Australian F1 Grand Prix in Melbourne

TAB customers are backing Daniel Ricciardo to cross the finish line first with 43% of all money bet on the West Australian to take out this weekend’s F1 Grand Prix.

At the start of this week the Renault driver got out to as much as $251 which clearly enticed a number of punters to show some love for their own. Ricciardo is now a $34 chance to win and $10 to have a podium finish which could lead to a ‘shoey’ this Sunday.

“It is no surprise to see that Daniel has been popular with our customers,” TAB’s Andrew Georgiou said.

“Once we offered up $251 about his chances of winning in Melbourne, that is when we saw some serious action.”

Sebastien Vettel ($2.25) leads the market to win on Sunday as he hopes to claim his third straight Australian Grand Prix and fourth overall equalling Michael Schumacher and Aussie legend Lex Davison’s record.

In the Drivers Championship, Ricciardo ($51) holds a touch more money than five-time champ Lewis Hamilton ($2) while Ferrari young gun Charles Leclerc ($5.50) seems to be more popular than his more experienced and celebrated teammate, Sebastien Vettel ($2.75).
