The Falcons and the Broncos were two of the standouts to emerge from Week 8 as both franchises picked up a pair of crucial wins against division opponents.
Atlanta held off a late challenge from the Panthers to secure their second win of the season, while the Broncos erased a 21-point deficit against the Chargers to win on a walkoff extra point.
Obviously it’s difficult to get too excited about this game based on where both teams sit in the standings, but considering they haven’t met since 2016, there’s a strong chance it turns out to be interesting.
The Falcons proved last week that their offence is capable of putting up big numbers on the scoreboard, largely due to the defence’s inability to stop teams from scoring.
Fortunately, the Broncos rank bottom five in points scored this year, so this does shape up as a fairly winnable game for Atlanta.
The trends also work in the Falcons’ favour in this cross-conference matchup.
After losing to the Bucs earlier in the year, the Broncos are now 1-5 in their last six games against opponents from the NFC, while the Falcons are 10-4 against the spread vs teams from the AFC.
With a chance to win back-to-back games for the first time since last season, this might be the most confident we’ve felt in the Falcons all year.
