Arch rivals Essendon and Carlton do battle at the MCG on Friday night with both teams also coming off the bye.
Carlton failed when last tested against one of their oldest rivals, going down narrowly by four points against Carlton in round 11.
The Blues won many of the key stats in that contest including clearances, disposals and contested possessions.
But they were beaten marks inside forward 50, tackles and one percenters.
They run into an Essendon side that is barely functioning right now.
Their only win in the last seven rounds was over Hawthorn and they have just two for the season.
I continually hear people say that Essendon have a talented list and are under performing.
