Gustafsson opens as a commanding $1.30 favourite in his first fight since ‘retirement’, with Werdum coming in at $3.50.
The Swede enters this clash with a solid 18-6 career record, although he has suffered consecutive defeats to Jon Jones and Anthony Smith.
Known primarily for his excellent power, he has 11 KO wins to date.
Having previously only fought at Light Heavyweight, this is definitely a step up for him weight wise.
Werdum has also had a storied career to date, entering this contest with a 23-9-1 career record.
He is known for his elite Jiu-Jitsu as a big man, having already recorded 11 career submission wins.
Things haven’t ben the same for him of late, only recording a 3-4 record in his last 4 years of action.
All things considered, I think Werdum is fairly solid value here as a convincing underdog.
Gustafsson is likely to be rusty here and at a significant weight disadvantage.
If Werdum can get this one on the ground early, I can see him controlling his way to an upset victory.
