The Cats just keep ticking along and while others faltered in Round 17, Geelong had a comfortable 26 point win over Carlton on Saturday afternoon.
Jeremy Cameron was not available and Tom Hawkins was held goalless, but the Cats found other avenues to score through.
Zach Touhy was the only multiple goal scorer for the Cats, with two on the day.
Fremantle has also been the beneficiary of other teams dropping points around them and now sit inside the top eight heading into Round 18 with dreams of playing finals football edging closer to reality.
The Dockers thumped the Hawks by 62 points in Tasmania and head home to Perth having gained a fair amount of confidence, albeit against a team that has lost just four games for the year.
The Cats remain a very tough team to score against and they should be able to do enough to overcome an improving Fremantle outfit.
