Golden Slipper Free Tips, Bets and Field Preview – 2020

It’s hard to believe that it is already here.

The Golden Slipper is without doubt the most highly anticipated race of the entire Autumn Carnival and Rosehill Gardens will be the scene of a truly outstanding edition of the $3.5 million feature on Saturday afternoon.

The current crop of two-year-olds is an excellent one and subsequently, we were faced with $5 the field when 2020 Golden Slipper betting markets were finalised on Tuesday.

GOLDEN SLIPPER – WINNER

No. 1 Tagaloa – Bet Now: $5.50

If you’ve been following my tips since spring, you’d know that I’ve had something on Tagaloa in each of his five career starts to date and I simply will not be jumping off now. The Lord Kanaloa colt is yet to run a bad race and resumed from a brief let-up to finish fourth in the colts & geldings Prelude before winning the Neds Blue Diamond. He was settled off the pace in the Group 2 Todman a couple of weeks ago and did all of his best work late to finish second behind an impressive Farnan, but his ideal drawing of barrier 6 for the Golden Slipper will mean that he can go forward, bowl along, get going at the bend and ultimately give them something to chase. He’s just the best horse in the Golden Slipper field for mine and he will be hard to beat again.

GOLDEN SLIPPER – 2ND

No. 10 See You Soon – Bet Now: $17.00

Another horse that I have had an opinion of since her debut is See You Soon and I think that she is a real chance of delivering trainer Jean Dubois a Golden Slipper win. The Siyouni filly put the writing on the wall with an eye-catching win in the Kirkham Plate on debut before finishing second to Dame Giselle in the Golden Gift. She returned a lovely effort to finish second when resuming in the Group 2 Reisling Stakes a fortnight ago and she has reportedly flourished in the wake of that performance. I think that she could very well prove to be the value in this field at Golden Slipper odds of $13 (at publish).

GOLDEN SLIPPER – 3RD

No. 2 Hanseatic – Bet Now: $7.00

Hanseatic couldn’t have been more impressive in the Neds Blue Diamond without winning and I can’t find a reason why he won’t be in the finish of the Golden Slipper 2020. The Street Boss colt won each of his first three career starts, all in black type company before his enormous Group 1 debut last time out and with Tim Clark jumping into the saddle at the eleventh hour on that occasion, it’s probably fair to say that his preparation wasn’t seamless (albeit out of his and the team’s control). He can slot in behind the early pace from gate 9 and with even luck, will be finishing off strongly again.

GOLDEN SLIPPER – 4TH

No. 3 Farnan – Bet Now: $4.80

Farnan was absolutely enormous in the Todman Stakes a couple of weeks ago and any improvement off that effort would see him hard to beat again in the Golden Slipper. The Not A Single Doubt colt has so far recorded four wins from only five career starts and has recently beaten plenty of his Slipper rivals with complete ease. If someone knows how to prepare a Golden Slipper winner, it’s Gai Waterhouse and Farnan represents a live chance of delivering the Queen of Australian Racing her seventh winner.
