The Nigerian enters this contest with a very impressive 16-1 career record, winning the title against Tyron Woodley and defending it against Colby Covington.
He is undefeated in his last 7 years of MMA action, fighting some very accomplished pros in that time.
Known primarily for his elite power and striking ability, 7 of his wins have come by KO and a further 8 by decision.
The 35-year-old Masvidal is as seasoned as they come, entering this bout with a 35-13 career record.
He is in arguably the best form of his career, managing a trio of wins over Till, Askren, and Diaz in 2019.
Also predominantly a striker, 16 of his wins have been by knockout and a further 17 have come by decision.
While he has accomplished a lot throughout his career, a title is something that has consistently eluded him.
I think the lack of a proper training camp puts Masvidal at a huge disadvantage here and I don’t see him overcoming that.
There is some bad blood between these two fighters and Usman has the killer instinct necessary to finish Masvidal here.
He is the faster and more powerful of the two and should be better conditioned due to his longer prep time.
For further value, Usman by KO/TKO at $2.50 is a solid alternative play.
