Magic Millions Classic Field Preview, Horses, Tips, Odds and Bets – 2019

The Magic Millions Classic headlines a massive day of racing at the Gold Coast on Saturday and we are set for one of the most open editions of the race in recent memory.

There is no clear favourite in our Magic Millions Classic betting market and there is not a great deal between the likes of Exhilarates, Unite And Conquer, Yes Yes Yes and Dubious in betting.

Will one of the leading contenders get the job done or will there be a Magic Millions Classic upset?

We have analysed the entire field and our complete Magic Millions Classic tips can be found below.

Unite And Conquer

Unite And Conquer will go into the Magic Millions Classic as one of the leading contenders, but his task was not made easy by the wide barrier draw. He started his racing career with a very impressive win in the Maribrynong Trial Stakes at Flemington and he backed that win up with a win in the Wyong Magic Millions Classic. The form around him is strong, he has beaten both Exhilarates and Sun City, and he has speed to burn. He will need to do plenty of work in the early stages from the wide barrier draw, but you can’t knock Gai Waterhouse in a feature two-year-old event.

The Odyssey

The Odyssey stamped himself as a leading Magic Millions contender with his win in the Phelan Ready at Doomben on December 15, but he was soundly beaten by Exhilarates at the Gold Coast last week. I’m not sure that he has as much upside as some of the other horses in this field and the $21 currently available does seem fair.

Yes Yes Yes

Yes Yes Yes was the big loser of the Magic Millions Classic barrier draw. Barrier 21 is a genuine nightmare and he will likely need to give his rivals a sizeable start. There has been plenty to like about what he has produced at the races to date and he could very easily end up being the best horse in this race, but the wide barrier draw makes his job very difficult.

Dubious

Dubious might just be the horse to beat in the Magic Millions Classic. He made his racing debut with a tough win in the Breeders’ Plate at Royal Randwick and that is always a strong form reference. He didn’t win by a big margin in his second race start at Eagle Farm, but he did show plenty of toughness and he found the line nicely. Michael Walker should be able to give him the run of the race from barrier seven and he should now be at peak fitness.

Sebrakate

Sebrakate may have plenty of racing experience, but he hasn’t really shown anything to suggest that he is capable of winning a race of this quality.

Hightail

Hightail moved his way into the Magic Millions Classic mix with a dominant win at Randwick last Saturday. He is another horse that did not benefit from the barrier draw and Hugh Bowman would need to produce a peach to give the Written Tycoon gelding any chance. $17 seems around the right mark.

Czarson

Czarson goes into the Magic Millions Classic as a serious contender. He hasn’t been seen at the races since he recorded a dominant win at Rosehill Gardens in December, but he was able to beat Unite And Conquer in a barrier trial at Warwick Farm. Tim Clark will have little choice but to go forward in the early stages of this contest and he will need to be strong to win, but there is no doubt that he is a serious talent.

Exhilarates

It would be fairly remarkable if Exhilarates were able to win the Magic Millions Classic in what would be their first crack at the race. It took Exhilarates a while to claim a maiden race win and she was beaten by Unite And Conquer in the Wyong Magic Millions Classic, but she earnt her spot in the field with a smart win at the Gold Coast last Saturday. Her last 100 metres was the best part of her race and she should relish the step-up in trip. She is the new favorite and I can’t get her as short as her current price, but a win would not surprise.

Betaima

Betaima won the Sizzling Plate in December and the form coming out of that race has not been particularly strong. She was soundly beaten by Exhilarates last week and the wide barrier draw doesn’t help her chances.

Champagne Boom

Champagne Boom was outstanding in the Debutant Stakes on debut at Caulfield, but she hasn’t really got on with the job since. She was beaten in the Bumble Stakes at Flemington and she was no match for Unite And Conquer in the Wyong Magic Millions Classic. She does map to get a nice run in transit, but I am happy to oppose.

Better Reflection

Better Reflection is the Cinderella story of this year’s Magic Millions Classic and this is a big moment for the battling trainer and jockey combination of Nigel Seymour and John Wigginton. She did show plenty of toughness to win the Calaway Gal Stakes and you can’t knock her record, but that is rarely the strongest form line for the Magic Millions Classic.

Girls Are Ready

Girls Are Ready was beaten in a maiden at Canberra on debut, but she has since earnt a place in this field with impressive wins at Canterbury and Warwick Farm. She has improved each time that she has been seen at the races, but this is easily the toughest test of her career to date.

Coureshewill

Courshewill started her career with two smart wins, but she has since been soundly beaten in the Calaway Gal Stakes and the BJ MacLachlan Stakes. She is one of the extreme outsiders in this field for a reason.

Movie Role

Movie Role was beaten by Yes Yes Yes on debut before she beat a field, which included Hightail, to win at Royal Randwick fortnight ago. That form around Hightail is strong, but I doubt she has as much upside as some of the other horses in this field.

Oh Five Glory

Oh Five Glory was disappointing behind Exhilarates last weekend and has been fairly lucky to sneak into the Magic Millions Classic field.

Champagne Jet

Champagne Jet has form around Oh Five Glory and probably should be double her current price.

Gala Miss

Gala Miss is the first emergency in the Magic Millions Classic field. She was bnadly beaten in the BJ McLachlan Stakes and I don’t think that she is up to this level.

Krameric

Krameric is the second emergency for this race. He has improved each time that he has been seen at the races and the way that he found the line in both the Phelan Ready and the BJ McLachlan Stakes was strong. He could give this a shake, if he earns a start.

Rome

Rome was well-backed in the BJ McLachlan Stakes and was not disgraced when second behind Sun City. He would be a serious contender if he were to gain a race start, but that looks unlikely at this stage.

Alburq

Alburq is the fourth emergency for the Magic Millions Classic.

Lubuk

Lubuk is the fifth emergency for the Magic Millions Classic.
