We turn our attention towards the top of the table on Saturday night for a mammoth game between first and second.
Despite last week’s disappointing draw against Hawthorn, the Dees still remain on top of the table as they look to make it a clean sweep over the Dogs.
Melbourne recorded a statement victory over Luke Beveridge’s side back in Round 11, which ironically came off the back of a one-point loss to the Crows the week prior.
The Dogs, on the other hand, come into this game with a point to prove after surviving a bit of a scare last week in an 11-point win over the Suns.
Points should come at a premium when you consider both teams rank bottom three in goals allowed this season, but it’s fair to say this game will be won and lost in the midfield, just like it was last time around.
The Dogs found no answer to Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver earlier in the year, while Max Gawn also dominated the hit-outs.
The recent form of these two clubs is in question, but after blowing a win last week, the Dees should be motivated to not only get back on track, but also extend their lead atop the table.
After a lackadaisical first quarter last week against the Suns, another slow start could prove very costly here for the Dogs.
