The Victory’s god-awful campaign continued in Week 9 and this time; it was a comfortable 3-1 loss to Western United. What was particularly damning about the result is that they managed to get on the scoresheet first but didn’t fire a shot for the following 75 minutes or so.
The Phoenix made it three in a row at home and against the out of form Wanderers, and there is no doubt that their performance in this match will be far more telling of their actual standing in the league.
I cannot have the Victory as such clear favourites but even with three in a row under their belt, I also find the Phoenix extremely difficult to trust.
