A crucial NFC South showdown headlines Sunday Night Football this week between the 6-2 Buccaneers and the 5-2 Saints.
After annihilating the Packers and Raiders in back-to-back games, the Bucs surprisingly had their hands full last week against the Giants in a thriller at MetLife.
The offence struggled mightily in the first half, but fortunately the defence came up with two huge turnovers to help the Bucs to a narrow 25-23 win.
Meanwhile, in Chicago, the Saints came away with a three-point overtime win against the Bears to make it four in a row.
New Orleans looked in real trouble to start the season, but they’ve really steadied the ship over the last month thanks to some consistency from Alvin Kamara and some better coverage defensively through the air.
That being said, the Saints’ list of wins over their last four games is far from impressive.
Aside from the Bears, the list of wins includes the Lions, Chargers and Panthers – all of which are under .500.
Some might argue that the Saints actually beat the Bucs back in Week 1, but that was well before Tom Brady and the rest of this Tampa offence began to click.
We saw the likes of Chris Godwin, Mike Evans, and even Gronk completely destroy the Packers three weeks ago, and despite some improvement, it’s tough to argue the Saints are any better defensively.
A close scare like last week’s one is enough to motivate Tom Brady, and with home field advantage this time around, the Bucs should get their revenge.
