This appears to be a much more even matchup, with both fighters currently at $1.91 odds.
Akhmedov has had a very strong career to date, entering this clash with a 20-4-1 career record.
He has been in some very strong recent form, with 5 wins and a draw in his last 6.
His methods of victory highlight his versatility, with 7 knockouts, 5 submissions, and 8 decision wins to his name.
Chris ‘The All American’ Weidman has also had a very interesting career arc.
He won his first 13 professional fights and was the undisputed Middleweight champion.
Luke Rockhold destroyed him one fateful night in December 2015, with Weidman only winning once in his last 6.
Each of those losses have come by way of KO, indicating that he likely has a very weak chin.
He even moved up to Light Heavyweight last time out, but came back to his more natural Middleweight after a horror show vs Reyes.
With these two coming in at even odds here, I’m inclined to go with the less-heralded Akhmedov here.
I think Weidman has been going through some demons since that Rockhold loss and I’m not sure if he’ll ever fully recover.
Akhmedov has some underrated power and one strike could easily drop Weidman here.
I just see more paths to victory for Akhmedov, making him good value at even money.
