After taking all three points in just one of their previous 12 games, the Glory have chalked up three straight wins against Melbourne Victory (2-1), Western United (3-0) and Wanderers (5-1).
Bruno Fornaroli and Chris Ikonimidis both scored in both defeats of the Victory and Western United. Andrew Keogh then blasted four goals past WSW on Sunday in a commanding performance.
The Glory are ninth, but only three points shy of the sixth-placed Roar.
Adelaide eased the pressure on Sunday with a 1-0 win over Brisbane at Coopers Stadium. United had won just one of their previous eight and were coming off a 4-1 hiding from Melbourne City.
Craig Goodwin’s 23rd-minute goal was enough to get over the Roar. But United’s attack has floundered in recent weeks with just three goals in their last five games.
Adelaide can climb to second with a win here, but a loss could drag them back into the midtable logjam.
Perth boast five wins and a draw from their last seven clashes with Adelaide. The Glory have also won both games between the clubs so far this season.
Nicholas D’Agostino scored twice in a 5-3 home victory in January – the Glory’s delayed first outing of the season – while the WA outfit came from a goal down at halftime to win 2-1 in Adelaide in February.
Adelaide are a formidable outfit (the heavy loss to City notwithstanding) but it’s hard to go past the Glory in the Best of the Day stakes in light of their blistering attacking form.
