The Power have plenty of ground to make up, but the top-eight is still in sight following back-to-back wins over West Coast and St Kilda.
Ken Hinkley’s side prevailed by a single point in treacherous conditions up in Cairns last week, a result that has left the Power sitting four points adrift from the top eight.
The Bulldogs, meanwhile, can clamber their way back into finals contention by building on last week’s 32-point demolition over Essendon.
There’s almost even money on offer when it comes to betting and there should be no love lost considering these two sides recently met in the Prelim Final.
The Dogs walked away comfortable 71-point winners that night at the Adelaide Oval, a performance that was highlighted by a four-goal bag from Bailey Smith on their way to the Grand Final.
Port’s forward line is only a week or two away from receiving a massive boost in the form of Charlie Dixon and Orazio Fantasia, but they’ll be without Mitch Georgiades this week after the youngster pulled up with calf tightness.
None of that bodes well for the Power, particularly against a Bulldogs team that ranks top five in inside 50s per-game.
Turning the ball over has also been a huge problem for Port this season, another worrying sign after Jack Macrae carved them up last time they played.
Based on those numbers, the Dogs look great value head-to-head.
