Randwick-Kensington will host Sydney’s Wednesday metropolitan program this week and seven races are on the card.
The rail will be set out five metres around the entire course and at publish, we’re faced with a track rated in the Soft (6) range.

Race 1 – 12:50PM – Vinery Stud Plate, (1100m)
Lucky Sun can break his maiden at Randwick-Kensington on Wednesday.
The Maurice gelding finished fifth, beaten four lengths by Remarque on debut at Rosehill in January, and he flashed late to finish second behind Verne at Warwick Farm when resuming earlier this month.
With improvement for that effort, he’s ready to salute.
Race 2 – 1:25PM – The Agency Real Estate Plate, (1100m)
There’s virtually no form to study ahead of Race 2 at Randwick-Kensington on Wednesday, and at publish, plenty of debutants are prominent in betting.
Happy to watch this lot go around with a view towards something later in the season.
Race 3 – 2:00pm – Microphone @ Darley Handicap, (1000m)
Kinloch only just missed here when resuming and he looks well placed to go one better on Wednesday.
The I Am Invincible colt showed plenty of promise during his debut preparation, and his resuming effort for second, beaten less than a head by Escape Artist suggested that he has only improved.
James McDonald retains the ride, and I can’t find a reason why the horse won’t be in the finish.
Race 4 – 2:35pm – Benchmark 72 Handicap, (1800m)
My Swashbuckler has mixed his form a little this time, but his best is certainly good enough to see him into the finish of something like this.
The Pour Moi gelding charged in to score at Gosford three starts back, finishing midfield in BM78 company at his next start before something of a flat performance in a better race at Rosehill last time out.
He’s rock-hard fit, the drop back in class suits and the 1800m should also be beneficial.
Race 5 – 3:10pm – Heineken Handicap, (1550m)
He required a few starts to tune up when resuming this time, but Nyami’s last-start effort and win at Canterbury suggested that the penny has dropped, and he can continue his winning run of form at Randwick-Kensington on Wednesday.
Nyami has been a decent horse for the Waller stable since making his debut, and he has picked off a few races like this one along the way.
Given the class of horse he beat home last time out, I’m confident he can carry topweight into the winner’s stall again this week.
Race 6 – 3:45pm – China Horse Club Handicap, (1100m)
Broken Arrows will have his first start for Matty Dunn in the sixth at Randwick-Kensington on Wednesday and I am confident he can win.
The Smart Missile gelding returned plenty of good efforts in decent metro races while under the care of David Pfieffer, and he is a proven performer at this point of his preparation.
He’s had the benefit of a trial in the lead-up to this race and he has options from the rails draw.
Race 7 – 4:20pm – Sky Racing Handicap, (1300m)
This is easily the best race on Wednesday’s Randwick-Kensington program and there is a case to be made for several starters, including Mollycoddle.
Mollycoddle returned to the races with an eye-catching effort to win in BM72 company at Canterbury before stepping out in a Listed race at Rosehill last time, albeit a failed tilt.
I like that she has been kept up to the mark with a trial and this shapes as a far more appropriate task for her.
