Rebels vs Reds Preview
A far better game if betting is to be believed, but it will still take a mighty performance from the Rebels to deliver the Reds their first loss of the 2021 Super Rugby Australia season on Saturday.
There’s no denying that the Rebels have been a clear-cut third in this year’s competition, and while there’s a big gap between them and the Force and Waratahs below, there’s also quite a gap between them and the Reds and Brumbies above.
They do enter this match fresh off the bye and prior to that, a relatively easy win over the Waratahs.
The Reds have been the benchmark since Week 1 and are justifiable favourites to take out the whole thing at season’s end.
Not that they needed to tune up, but that’s exactly what they did at the expense of the Waratahs last week, and I’m expecting another impressive performance on Saturday.
The Rebels led for most of the way before just being pipped late by the Reds in Round 2, but I’m not confident that they can return a similar performance and result, even at home.
