Elsewhere, there’s a decent card of racing at Eagle Farm with a number of horses vying for favouritism in the feature event, the Recognition Stakes (Race 7) over 1400m.
Gunsynd Classic winner Cylinder Beach makes his return to the track having been denied a run when a freak storm curtailed proceedings with three races remaining at Doomben earlier this month and trainer Desleigh Forster is expecting him to run well fresh.
However, while our traders think he’s a horse with plenty of ability, we’d anticipate that he’ll be better placed over more ground and are keen to take him on.
Hopfgarten has been around the block a few times and enters this race off a commendable performance behind Le Romain in the Cantala Stakes, although he’s been asked to carry 60kgs here and that may prove a difficult impost.
A number of the other contenders come out of a 1350m handicap on the marathon Sunshine Coast race meeting 10 days ago with Rudy, a dominant winner of this race back in 2014, perhaps best suited given his strong second-up record and the fact he meets Frespanol better at the weights this time around.
