The defending premiers find themselves in 12th position after dropping their last four and all signs point toward their season ending in August.
It’s not only the defeats that are a huge issue for Richmond but also the quality of opposition they have been beaten by with eighth placed West Coast the highest ranked team.
All is not lost for Richmond however because they sit just four points out of the top eight but they would need to drastically improve their form when they take on the Brisbane Lions this Friday night.
Brisbane have been the form team of the competition in the middle part of the season but they didn’t help their chances of securing a home Qualifying Final when they were beaten by St Kilda last weekend.
A season ending knee injury to the very underrated Eric Hipwood will require some restructuring but this is exactly why Joe Daniher was brought into the team.
He is the only player in the competition to have kicked at least one goal in every game this year and he is going to be very important for the Lions going forward now.
You would hope Richmond would get up for Jack Reiwoldt’s 300th but you couldn’t back the Tigers with any confidence at the moment.
