The Tigers and the Giants have a rich recent history against one another, and there’s no doubt Sunday’s game will have plenty of feeling to it.
Richmond suffered a rare Round 1 loss last week to Carlton, a performance that has called Damien Hardwick’s side into question after they suffered a seven-goal onslaught in the final term.
The Giants also fell away late against the Swans, but still earned a pass mark considering superstar forward Toby Greene was absent from the side.
The injury to Dion Prestia has left Damien Hardwick scrambling, but he might also need to come up with a replacement for Jack Riewoldt after the key forward underwent thumb surgery earlier in the week.
The Giants, meanwhile, are set to receive a big boost in the form of Jesse Hogan, who should make up a lethal duo alongside last week’s three-goal kicker, Harry Himmelberg.
This is another tough game to bet on, but I do think the Giants are extremely good value at the current $1.95 quote.
Richmond’s fall off in the fourth quarter last week was significant, and with Riewoldt in doubt, it should offer GWS a chance to load up on talls and try and make things hard for the likes of Shai Bolton and Tom Lynch.
