Rosehill Guineas Free Tips, Bets and Field Preview – 2020

The Rosehill Guineas makes up one of five Group 1’s at Rosehill on Saturday, on what is shaping up to be another memorable Golden Slipper Day.

Chris Waller is out for a three-peat following D’Argento and The Autumn Sun’s success over the last two years, but the favourite Shadow Hero looks the horse to beat in the classy field of three-year-old’s.

As always, you can find all of our 2020 Rosehill Guineas best bets below.

ROSEHILL GUINEAS – WINNER

No. 2 Shadow Hero – Bet Now: $3.10

Shadow Hero was enormous a fortnight ago in the Randwick Guineas when he beat Microphone home by three-quarters of a length. The favourite looks tough to beat once again after drawing well in barrier 8, while the step up to the 2000m should suit after winning the Champion Stakes over the same distance (also third-up) during the Spring. Favourites have won three of the last four editions of the Rosehill Guineas, with The Autumn Sun saluting last year. Shadow Hero has placed in two of his three starts at Rosehill, so I’m confident the Pierro gelding can add a third Group 1 to the resume.

ROSEHILL GUINEAS – 2ND

No. 5 Scorpz – Bet Now: $15.00

The New Zealand Derby form always stacks up well for the Guineas and the Stephen Marsh-trained Scorpz is certainly in my sights for a place bet. The three-year-old has been freshened up after running third in the Derby last month behind winner Sherwood Forest – who has unfortunately drawn wide. Jockey Opie Bosson won this race in 2017 aboard Gingernuts from a similar draw, so the pair should prove a tough duo to run down.

ROSEHILL GUINEAS – 3RD

No. 3 Warning – Bet Now: $6.50

Damien Oliver won’t have much work to do aboard last year’s Victoria Derby winner from the inside draw. Warning is having his third run back from a spell after finishing fifth in the Randwick Guineas and should nestle in somewhere just off the speed. The three-year-old by Declaration Of War announced himself as a stayer last Spring when runner-up in the Ladbrokes Classic two weeks out from the Derby, so he’s certainly worth including in your multiples as he continues to adapt to Sydney.

ROSEHILL GUINEAS – 4TH

No. 1 Castelvecchio – Bet Now: $6.00

Castelvecchio has struggled for pace this prep, failing to run a place in both the Hobartville Stakes and the Randwick Guineas a fortnight ago. The three-year-old by Dundeel struggled to get through the soft track at Rosehill and Randwick but showed plenty of promise last Spring stepping up beyond the mile for the first time to run second in both the Spring Champion Stakes and the Cox Plate. Craig Williams, who has won this race twice before, only strengthens his case.
