Sale Tips, Race Previews and Selections – 9/6/2021

Sale will host Victoria’s headline meeting this Wednesday and eight races will be contested.

The rail will be set out five metres around the entire course and at publish, we’re faced with a track rated in the Good (3) range.

Preview brought to you by Ladbrokes. Learn more about Ladbrokes HERE.

Race 1 – 12:00pm – Wayne Pollock/Bill Joes Maiden Plate (2232m)

I’m going to have a small bet on Be Curious in the first at Sale on Wednesday.

Be Curious is yet to win in five trips to the races, but she hit the line well to finish fourth over a mile at Cranbourne last time out, and getting out to this trip third-up looks as though it will suit.

Race 2 – 12:30pm – David Wilson/Tony Hart 2YO Maiden Plate (1108m)

There is hardly any form to divulge ahead of Race 2 at Sale on Wednesday and at publish, several debutants are prominent in betting.

I am happy to stay out of this one.

Race 3 – 1:05pm – Thelma Coster Maiden Plate (1108m)

Veranskova hasn’t been seen at the races since December, but she looks to be a filly of ability, and she can make a winning return at Sale this week.

She has stepped out competitively only once so far, but the Written Tycoon filly returned an eye-catching effort to finish second, beaten just over a length by Written Miss at Pakenham.

She has reportedly furnished into a nice horse in her time away from the track and I’m happy to have something on here.

Race 4 – 1:40pm – Helen Cantwell Maiden Plate (1419m)

Modern Legend can break his maiden at Sale on Wednesday.

The Not A Single Doubt gelding finished sixth, beaten more than four lengths on debut at Pakenham in April, but enjoyed plenty of improvement into a credible second behind the talented Sly Corner at Cranbourne last time.

Fitter third-up and from the good draw, this looks a very winnable race for him.

Race 5 – 2:15pm – Peter Gray BM64 (2232m)

Heir To The Throne has been freshened since his last appearance at Cranbourne in late April, but this looks a great opportunity for him to strike.

The Pentire gelding had three starts in his first campaign for John Leek and didn’t miss placing, winning in BM64 company and finishing third behind Chequerboard most notably.

His fresh form is good, and he boasts a class edge over a lot of these rivals.

Race 6 – 2:50pm – Max Blakiston/Ian Rees Class 1 Handicap (1208m)

This is a rise in class for Sotirio, but she couldn’t have been more impressive last time out, and she can record another win.

The Lonhro filly finished third behind Yulong Defence at Cranbourne when resuming and stormed back into the winner’s stall at Stawell last time out, greeting the judge close to five lengths ahead of her rivals.

Fitter third-up and under the conditions of this race, she can strike again.

Race 7 – 3:25pm – John Allman BM64 Handicap (1736m)

Facemask probably won’t be offered a better opportunity to win than this.

This Peter Moody-trained galloper stripped fitter with a couple of fair efforts in metro company at the beginning of his prep and has gone close at each of his last three, finishing a length second in BM64 company last time out.

He does have a wide draw to contend with, but he should get every opportunity to overcome it and fight out the finish.

Race 8 – 4:00pm – Anthony Lee BM64 Handicap (1419m)

Skywolf looks a winning chance in the last at Sale on Wednesday.

The three-year-old son of Akeed Mofeed was an impressive winner at Pakenham when resuming, and he was last seen finishing fourth, beaten only half a length by Bermadez in a Class 1 race.

The conditions of this look perfect for him, and I cant find a reason why Skywolf won’t be in the finish.
