San Domenico Stakes Tips, Odds and Field Preview – 2016

Up in Sydney, with the Snowden’s taking a conservative approach with ace colt Capitalist and not wanting him to slug through a ‘gut buster’ on a heavy track last weekend, the Slipper winner will instead make his return to racing in the Group 3 San Domenico Stakes (Race 5) at Rosehill.

Under the set weights and penalties conditions of this three year old event, he’ll be asked to carry 60kgs with Blake Shinn available to take the ride having been unable to get down to the requisite weight he would have carried in the Missile.

Our Sydney traders were all over him in the Slipper but there’s a price for everything and we’ll be looking to take him on at this kind of price come Saturday.

With a field of just six set to face the starter, the likely challenge was expected to come from Star Turn, who produced competitive efforts in both the Blue Diamond and Slipper and has trialled extremely well heading into this.

While Gerald Ryan’s Tango Rain remains unbeaten and had the better of Thronum last time out, that horse’s subsequent win at Randwick last Saturday providing grounds for optimism that he can serve it up to the hotpot here.
