Sandown/Ladbrokes Park Tips, Race Previews and Selections – 30/6/2021

A big program has been confirmed for Ladbrokes Park Sandown this Wednesday and nine races will be contested.

The rail will be set out three metres around the entire course and at publish, the track is rated in the Soft (7) range.

Preview brought to you by Ladbrokes. Learn more about Ladbrokes HERE.

Race 1 – 11:55AM – Clanbrooke Racing Handicap, (1300m)

Debut winner Kentucky Casanova can continue his rise through the grades at Ladbrokes Park.

The Artie Schiller gelding showed some potential at the trials prior to making his debut and put the writing on the wall with an easy win at Swan Hill.

This is harder, but he has plenty of upside.

Race 2 – 12:25PM – IVE Print Handicap, (1200m)

Turin Warrior shapes as a winning chance in this open contest.

The Archie Alexander-trained gelding has had three starts back this time, improving noticeably with each and only just missing at Ballarat last time out.

He’ll take further improvement into this race, he’s drawn to receive a lovely run, and we can have an each-way play at around the $7 mark.

Race 3 – 1:00pm – Ladbroke It! Handicap, (2400m)

Mr Mooj was an impressive Saturday winner last time, and I can’t find a reason why he won’t be in the finish again on Wednesday.

The Robert Hickmott-trained import needed the run he finished down the order at Caulfield when fresh, buy he flashed late over 1800m here at Ladbrokes Park, before getting out to a mile and a half and putting paid to them.

He has options from the rails draw and gets some relief in the weights under Will Price.

Race 4 – 1:35pm – Ladbrokes Easy Form Handicap, (2100m)

Carrie can record a second consecutive win at Ladbrokes Park this week.

The Manhattan Café mare tuned up with a couple of fair efforts at Ballarat at Flemington, but her last-start effort suggested that the penny has really started to drop, and saw her greet the judge nearly four lengths ahead of her rivals.

She has been charged with carrying a heavy weight, but her class will take her a long way towards winning again.

Race 5 – 2:10pm – Ladbrokes Bet Ticker Handicap, (1200m)

I’m going to give Listed winner Condo’s Express the chance to win at a big price at Ladbrokes Park this week.

He hasn’t been able to return to the form that he found during his three-year-old season, but Condo’s Express is another horse who has clearly taken improvement from each start that he has had this time.

He is drawn to receive a lovely run today, gets into this race well under the conditions and there are no real stars engaged.

Race 6 – 2:45pm – MRC Membership Renewal Handicap, (2100m)

I’m happy to take on the short priced favourite because I consider him to be a bit of a non-winner, and I think that Dogmatic can run a race at a nice price ($13 at publish).

Dogmatic has been a good horse for the Richard Laming yard throughout his career, and he has stripped fitter for four starts back this time, including a credible sixth placing behind Declares War at Flemington last time.

Dropping back to the midweeks and under Jamie Kah, I’m happy to have something on.

Race 7 – 3:20pm – Ladbrokes Same Race Multi Handicap, (1400m)

Another runner with claims on winning at a price at Ladbrokes Park this week is Whittington Stone.

Whittington Stone has been a genuine Wednesday grade horse since making his debut, and he has raced consistently in this kind of contest the whole way.

He wasn’t able to get into his race here last time, but his effort prior to fill the minors behind Halcyon Dane suggested that he has a win or two in him this prep.

We can have another each-way play at around the $16 mark.

Race 8 – 3:55pm – Ladbrokes Blended Multi Handicap, (1400m)

This is another wide open contest and Ellis Park has claims on winning second up.

Ellis Park returned for just two starts last preparation and returned to the paddock after recording an impressive win at this track and distance.

He kept all of his best work for late when second behind Cliffs Of Belaura here a fortnight ago and he can go one better on Wednesday under Jamie Kah.

Race 9 – 4:30pm – Ladbrokes Cash In Handicap, (1600m)

Chief Altony looks tough to beat in the last at Ladbrokes Park this week.

The Rebel Raider gelding simply doesn’t know how to run a bad race, and he charged in to score in BM70 company at Ballarat two starts back before finishing fourth, beaten less than a length at Flemington last time out.

This is a drop in class and with even luck, I can’t find a reason why he won’t be in the finish.
