The first three crosstown clashes occurred in the first seven rounds of the season. The Phoenix snared a momentous 91-88 triumph on NBL debut, but United redressed the balance with a pair of wins (110-98) and 96-95) in November.
Melbourne United may still be shooting for a spot in the playoffs providing they account for the Taipans on Thursday.
United were 9-5 at Melbourne Arena this season heading into the final round. The Phoenix are 6-9 at the venue.
While United have been in patchy enough form recently to put their seemingly rock-solid semi-final hopes in severe jeopardy, they are playing far better than the slumping, second-last Phoenix.
