This will mark Craig McRae’s first match as head coach of Collingwood, and he’ll be tasked with leading the club to a stronger record than its 6-16 mark in 2021.
That record marked only the ninth time in 125 VFL/AFL seasons that the Magpies won fewer than seven matches, as well as their lowest win total since 2005.
Meanwhile, the Saints ended 2021 just one win and percentage outside of the top eight due mainly to a poor start which saw them enter the bye at 5-8, including four defeats by a margin of 50+ points.
Post-bye, St Kilda would go on to win five of nine while never falling by a margin of more than 31 points.
That record included a 70-61 victory against Collingwood in Round 16, during which Jack Steele dominated with 36 disposals, 14 tackles and eight clearances.
