Suddenly St Kilda find themselves in danger of slipping outside the eight following back-to-back losses to Port Adelaide and Melbourne.
The Saints had their moments last week against the reigning premiers, but a goalless first term proved too much to overcome on their way to a 38-point loss.
Geelong, on the other hand, did what they do best: bounce back.
The Cats put their Round 7 loss to Fremantle behind them with a convincing win over GWS on the road, and they’ve again gone up a nice price to make it two on the trot against the Saints this week.
Chris Scott’s side has won six in a row over St Kilda dating back to 2017, and with Tom Hawkins and Jeremy Cameron currently kicking goals for fun, it’s likely the Cats can add to that number.
The Saints have been notoriously slow starters this season, a potential recipe for disaster against a Geelong team that is averaging five more scoring shots per game, as well as eight more inside 50s.
The Cats currently hold a 1-2 record against teams inside the Top 8, but with the Saints really struggling for points, they should be able to level things up.
