Up in Sydney, Saturday’s Rosehill card is headlined by the Group 2 Stan Fox Stakes (Race 5) over 1500m which should be a cracker despite a small field of just six starters. All but one of them come out of Astern’s Golden Rose here a fortnight ago.
While no match for the winner, Divine Prophet made up plenty of ground over the concluding stages and with the extra 100m to his advantage, the Hawkes colt is expected to prove hard to beat on home turf.
His biggest challenge is likely to come from Impending, a nicely bred colt who has had to live in the shadow of his stablemate over the past few weeks.
With James McDonald in the saddle and the Godolphin camp flying of late, we’d expect to see plenty of money in support of him come raceday, so don’t discount the possibility that he may start favourite.
Former Skyline Stakes winner Good Standing plugged away fairly in the Rose and is the only other runner under double figures at the time of writing.
