After thrilling Conference Championship games that were both decided in overtime, the New England Patriots are $1.80 favourites with TAB to win Super Bowl LIII against the Los Angeles Rams ($2) when they clash at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Monday, February 4.
The Patriots held off a spirited comeback from the Kansas City Chiefs to win 37-31 away from home at Arrowhead Stadium while the Rams overturned a 13-point first quarter deficit to eliminate the New Orleans Saints 26-23 on the road at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
“Even though the Patriots and Rams did not host their Conference Championship games, both teams were the number two seed in their conferences, so they have been highly respected in Super Bowl LIII betting since the season commenced in early September,” TAB’s Trent Langskaill said.
“New England, who fell to the Philadelphia Eagles in last year’s Super Bowl, were $7 chances before the regular season started while the Rams were rated $10 hopes after reaching the playoffs last season.”
Super Bowl LIII will be the third-straight appearance for the Patriots in the NFL’s championship game and the ninth for the partnership of quarterback Tom Brady and head coach Bill Belichick, with their Super Bowl record standing at five wins and three losses.
The Rams, who have been in Los Angeles for three seasons after relocating from St Louis, will be contesting their first Super Bowl in 17 years when they were heavily favoured to defeat the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXVI.
