There is a scenario where the Swans could finish as high as fourth, but unless we see several blowouts occur this week, Sydney is likely to finish no higher than fifth.
To do so, the Swans need to take care of the Suns and hope West Coast defeats Brisbane, the latter being the most unlikely of the two.
Sydney comes into this game on the back of a 14-point win over North last week, a game John Longmire will be hoping his side can improve on after his men struggled for accuracy in front of goal.
There’s perhaps no better side to hone your craft against than the Suns, but Longmire will also be taking a cautious approach to this game after the Suns won by 40 points when they met at Metricon back in April.
Also of concern moving forward is the injury to skipper Nick Blakey after the halfback suffered a broken fibula last week in the win over North.
Josh Kennedy is also set to miss this game with a hamstring problem, leaving the Swans short on two of their top leaders.
The Suns have struggled mightily to find points in recent weeks, so the Swans should run way with this game in the end.
That said, Gold Coast can be a tough out sometimes, so it wouldn’t surprise to see them keep this game close in the early goings.
