The Swans have a chance to rejoin the top four this week when they run out at home to face the Suns.
Sydney suffered a serious reality check last week at the hands of the Lions, their first loss to Brisbane at the SCG since 2002.
Buddy Franklin managed to kick six goals, but John Longmire will be hoping for more consistency from his side in front of the sticks after they kicked 11 behinds and turned the ball over far too often.
As for the Suns, this is simply a must-win game.
Stuart Dew’s men have shown some real promise at times this season but failed to reap the rewards losing three straight to St Kilda, Brisbane, and Collingwood.
On the plus side, the Suns have challenged the Swans in recent times winning two of their last three games.
Not surprisingly though, the market currently favours Sydney by five goals, a margin they should have no problem covering when you consider the Swans average nearly three more scoring shots a game than the Gold Coast.
One of the biggest problems for the Suns this year has been turning inside 50 entries into points. Dew’s side tends to have a lot of the ball inside their forward half, but they’ve been lacking the polish in front of goal – as we saw last week with Levi Casboult.
Overall, the Suns are heading in the right direction, but against a Swans team that has allowed the sixth-fewest goals on average this year, this shapes as another disappointing loss.
