The Straight Six Day at Flemington Tips, Race Previews and Selections – 22/5/2021

The feature race of the afternoon at HQ this Saturday will be run and won down the famous straight six.

Our full 2021 Straight Six Day Tips & Preview can be read below.

Race 1 – 11:45AM – Benchmark 78 Handicap, (1400m)

Sweet Sixteen has had just the seven career race starts but she has been unplaced just once.

The daughter of Sebring won her first two starts this prep at Sale and Pakenham before finishing second last start at Pakenham.

Jamie Kah climbs aboard for the first time and will pilot from barrier seven.

Race 2 – 12:20pm – Open Handicap, (1600m)

Riddle Me That has put together three solid performances so far this prep without winning but there has been plenty to like about each run.

All three starts have been in black type company and the step up to 1600m looks ideal at this stage in his prep.

Will Price will give the horse some weight relief.

Race 3 – 12:55pm – Racing.com Plate, (1400m)

Linas Legends found one better when making his debut at Caulfield two weeks ago but he will take plenty of benefit for the hit out and race day experience.

The step up in distance is a big plus for this colt and the best jockey in the country will be steering from barrier three.

Race 4 – 1:30pm – Benchmark 84 Handicap, (2500m)

Heart Of Puissance had absolutely no luck in the Warrnambool Cup and by the time he got clear running, the race was won.

He steps up to 2500m for the first time but he should be plenty fit for this race and Jamie Kah climbs aboard for the first time from barrier four.

Race 5 – 2:10pm – Benchmark 78 Handicap, (1100m)

Whipcracker Way is a very progressive type of horse having won five of his eight career starts including an impressive win at Sandown first up from a spell on the 1st of May.

The Shamus Award gelding won by three quarters of a length that afternoon and this race does not look much tougher than that.

Race 6 – 2:50pm – Ecycle Solutions Trophy, (1100m)

Not only does the horse have one of the best names in the country but he is a pretty talented individual.

The son of Snitzel won his first two starts at Geelong and Caulfield before he was far from disgraced in the Group 3 Manfred Stakes back in late January.

He resumes from a spell in this event down the straight and Damien Oliver retains the ride and will steer from the inside rail.

Race 7 – 3:30pm – Off The Track Community Trophy, (2000m)

Real Sensation has had a successful first campaign since making his debut back in January.

He broke his maiden at Stawell when winning by 4.5 lengths before a narrow defeat at The Valley was followed by a narrow victory at Flemington.

Despite being asked to carry the big weight last start at Caulfield, he ran home really well from near last before finding plenty of trouble in the last 150m.

Laura Lafferty gets the ride and will give some weight relief.

Race 8 – 4:10pm – Listed Straight Six (1200m)

Great Again has been a beauty for trainer Lindsey Smith with 10 wins from 27 starts and more than half a million in prize money.

He was beaten 1.7 lengths at The Bool in the Listed Wangoom Handicap first up. and has two wins and two seconds from five starts second up.

Drops a kilo as well.

Pandemic was well beaten by Savatoxl in the Group 3 Mckay Stakes at Morphettville last start but that form looks pretty good with that horse coming out and winning the Group 1 last weekend.

Blinkers go on for the first time this prep which will sharpen him up well from barrier six.

Race 9 – 4:40pm – Benchmark 84 Handicap (1800m)

You know the drill.

Box these four up and see if we can finish the day on a winning note.
