Cris Cyborg (20-2) vs Felicia Spencer (7-0)
Without a doubt one of the greatest female Mixed Martial Artists to ever grace the Octagon, Cristiane Cyborg returns against undefeated prospect Felicia Spencer, after a 7 month lay off. After joining the UFC in May of 2016, she ran through her opponents with relative ease, finishing most of them with her brutal knockout power in quick fashion. Her only real test was when she fought ex-Bantamweight champion Holly Holm at UFC 219, coming away with an Unanimous Decision victory.
A relative newcomer to the UFC, Spencer is now second-up with the organisation after making her pro debut in 2015 and cutting her teeth with Invicta FC. A complete polar opposite to Cyborg in terms of fighting style, she prefers to use her grappling to take the fight to the ground and look for the finish there, as her record shows with four submission wins from her seven victories overall.
This really looks like a fight for the Cyborg of old; a bout against lesser opposition to showcase her freakish power and abilities. Taking nothing away from Spencer who in her most recent fight submitted Australian prospect Megan Anderson, but she is severely outsized and outclassed here. Spencer will likely look for the takedown from the get go and realistically, this has ended very badly for anyone who has tried this particular strategy. Cyborg will simply be too big and strong. I can see Cyborg stuffing a few takedowns, keeping the fight on the feet and then moving in for the kill. It should only be a matter of time before one of those big punches find their mark and from there, it should be all over. The Wolf is tipping a quick and easy night’s work for the ex-champion.
